I have never thought about the struggles teachers go through on a daily basis or how much work they truly put into teaching.  As a child, teachers seem to come in, teach you, go home, and from there. We assume they enjoy their evenings and vacations. However, after this study abroad trip, I have seen…

I never thought I would go on a study abroad trip. I hadn’t even been west of Alabama, let alone gone out of the country. I’m not one of those people who likes getting outside of their comfort zone and trying a bunch of new things. However, the semesters prior had all been full of…

The first full day we were in Dumfries, we were supposed to go to the primary school and attend their assembly. We were going to experience that and then get a little tour of the school and figure out the plan for everyone teaching a lesson. Because of the Corona Virus and all the unknown…

London! We left Atlanta around 6:45 PM and landed in London around 7 AM. The flight was really long, and I only managed to get about two hours of sleep the entire flight.  Food on a plane is a bit strange, but surprisingly not that bad. Once we got to London, we went straight to…

    April 2, 2020

The few weeks before our trip I was a nervous wreck. I was trying to make sure I was packing everything I needed without over packing. We were told to take a hiking backpack as our suitcase. At first, I was upset about this, but I was so thankful for it. It was so much…

The top item on my list of things to see in Scotland was a Scottish Highlander, since they are one of my favorite cows. Marlyn and I were able to see a few from the window on the train ride to Scotland, and I was super excited about that- probably too excited. We were able…

    April 2, 2020

We landed in London around 7:00 a.m. We got to see the sunrise as we got off the plane and onto a bus that took us into the airport. We took the underground to the hotel to freshen up after being on the plane for eight hours. After we took our stuff to our rooms…

Before leaving for Scotland, I knew five people out of 15 students going on our trip from the UGA. I knew none of the University of Glasgow students. I was about to spent a lot of time with the rest of the University of Georgia students and I was going to have to teach with…

If I had pick my major two passions in life, it would have to be agriculture and the education of others- which is why I chose to be an agricultural education major. Education and agriculture are the two words that drew me to this particular study abroad program. So you could only imagine my excitement…

What is flying like? What should I pack? Should I pack two jackets or five? Where is my passport? Should I wear my UGA shirt to the airport? These are all questions I asked myself at least once before heading to the airport to leave for London. Before this trip, I had not left the…
