  • Zeus on Earth

    Chandler Gruener

    October 25, 2023

Looking for Zeus in the clouds while reality can be found on earth. At least Zeus Lupulo (hops) are found in Brazil for beer production. While beer and specifically craft breweries, are growing in popularity in Brazil and USA. Increase in demand and every place searching for their unique flavor to attract customers, a hop…

  • Peanut-Production in Brazil

    Chandler Gruener

    October 25, 2023

A peanut place not only is in Georgia but is in Brazil, with such an important peanut-producing place for the world. There are many connections between Georgia and Brazil, but this was my first time being involved with peanuts. My trip focused on getting new experiences and working with new crops to me in research…

    Chandler Gruener

    October 25, 2023

Having no sun, at least for a little bit of time each day during the summer, is normal due to a large amount of rain compared to most places in the USA. Rain is a relief from the heat, in addition, filling the groundwater wells where people get their water is greatly welcomed. This water…

    Clifton Edwards

    October 25, 2023

During spring break, I was granted the opportunity to travel to Uruguay to tour and learn about the agricultural systems of the country. While there I was able to tour El Paraiso, a 10,000-acre ranch near Trienta y Tres that specializes in Cow-Calf, rice, soybean, and horse production. I had the honor while there to…

  • The Flight to Montevideo

    Clifton Edwards

    October 25, 2023

Looking back on Friday March the 3rd at around 10 pm: the plane begins to fuel-up as the pungent smell of gasoline makes its way into the cabin. We listen to the pre-flight demonstration before departing for Montevideo, Uruguay. The flight attendants begin to secure the cabin and the whine of the engines grows louder by…

  • Bringing a Piece of Uruguayan Advice Home

    Brian Stacy

    October 25, 2023

The Uruguayan Study Abroad’ s host, Bruno, loved to say, “we are tough people, with tender hearts.” To the best of my memory, that was one of the very first things he had said to me–and it really stuck. I thought about that everyday of the trip, and I saw countless examples. The resiliency of…

    October 25, 2023

As I prepared to attend the Uruguay study abroad, I was most excited for three things. 1) Experiencing a new culture, 2) Playing with some beautiful cattle, & 3) Trying all the new foods. Between all three things, I was most interested in the opportunity to try the new foods. I have always been adventurous…

While abroad in Uruguay for the International Agribusiness in Diversified Livestock and Grain Production program, I rode a horse for the first time! October 25, 2023

During my study abroad trip in Uruguay, my favorite learning experience took place on the family ranch, Angus Los Tilos. This family ranch was a great teacher on the external challenges that came with a changing natural environment and confronting them with spearheading solutions. The introduction of the farm quickly grasped my attention as we…

    Nallely Lepiz Madrigal

Soon to come is my study abroad trip to Greece: The case of the Greek financial crisis. During these last two weeks of preparation for the trip, I am afraid I will overlook important details and factors that will leave me stressed while abroad. Earlier in the semester, I participated in a different study abroad…
