Today is the day that I am leaving the United States to head to Europe for The Grand Tour! In September of 2017, I applied to go on The Grand Tour this Maymester. Just the thought of possibly being able to go to Europe excited me and at that point I had not even been…

Not often do I feel anxiety about going on an adventure. I attempt to pursue life with gumption and confidence, however I recall the day I decided I was going to take the European art and Garden tour study abroad. I called both my parents and told them that I was thinking about taking this…

Today marks about nine days before my departure for Europe. Like every spring, finals and projects and the month of May have just completely snuck up on me. This time, however, instead of taking finals and being done and moving on with summer, I’m almost immediately hopping on a plane and going to Europe –…

I can’t wait to be on the plane to Uruguay. My main anxiety’s have been  making sure I packed accordingly for the weather in Uruguay! My parents have had more anxiety than me about traveling out of the country! I also was worried about my Spanish speaking abilities so I have brushed up on my…

Academics here in Germany are very different than they are at UGA. It is interesting to see how other countries organize their academic system. For example, in Germany the entire semester is lectures. No exams, no papers, no projects or anything. This is true up until the end of the semester. Our grade depends on…

It is hard to sum up an experience like our spring break trip to Uruguay. I was so nervous at first to be traveling abroad for the first time, especially to a country as small as Uruguay. However, after the first day or two, I found my nerves quickly fading. The Uruguayan people that we…

One of my favorite stops so far this week has been El Paraiso, a ranch that is home to Mr. Jose Gayo and his family. Jose raises beef cattle and a few horses, while also growing rice. He allowed us to ride his horses while the sun set and was gracious enough to host us…

To say that my trip to Uruguay was anything other than the best trip of my life, I would be lying. This trip has allowed me to develop a new appreciation for grass-fed beef production and the global cattle industry as a whole. Not only did I have the chance to see production practices that…

Visiting different farms this week has been a great experience. Meeting the farmers and learning about their operations really makes this trip a great one. We got to visit a dairy farm, beef farm, sheep farm and rice farm. All farms opened up their financials in order to help us understand agriculture in their country.…
