Dr. Alexa Lamm and Dr. Kevan Lamm recently visited with Dr. Pedro Carvalho, Feedlot specialist, and Erica Geisenhagen, Manager of Communications at AgNext – an innovative Center at Colorado State University striving to innovate real-world solutions for sustainability in animal agriculture.

Just three years in the making, this new center is conducting research on beef cattle methane emissions and more, striving to lower the carbon footprint associated with animal agriculture. They work to bring industry together with scientists to solve the most relevant and timely issues facing the livestock industry hosting numerous extension events. During our time together we discussed their current research, got to see it in action, found out just how hard it is to get the simple answers we all want about sustainability, and learned even more about the evolving need to communicate the science behind animal agriculture with the public and decision makers from the AgNext perspective.

Our conversation with Pedro and Erica will be shared through the AgriCurious podcast soon where you can learn all about the latest research happening at AgNext in easy to understand terms from Pedro and hear from Erica about how AgNext is prioritizing the communication training of their scientists. AgNext truly recognizes the need for effective science communication and have placed it at the heart of their efforts. We look forward to future science communication collaborations as we all strive to communicate the science behind agriculture.
