Biography

Dr. Alexa Lamm is a Professor of Science Communication in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication at the University of Georgia. She is considered a leader in the field of social science research as it relates to understanding how communication efforts impact the decision-making process and the ultimate adoption of new scientific technologies to advance agricultural production while maintaining a sustainable environment.

Accomplishments

Dr. Lamm has received over $51.9 million in total contracts and grants and published over 225 peer-reviewed journal articles.

Appointments

Dr. Lamm currently serves as a member of the department’s graduate committee, serves on the academic advisory board for the North American Meat Institute’s Protein PACT, is an advisory council member for TedXUGA, and is the past editor of the Journal for International Agricultural and Extension Education.

Awards

Dr. Lamm was recently named (2023) a Fellow of the American Association for Agricultural Education.

Other notable achievements include co-authoring the Journal of Applied Communications Article of the Year in 2023, receiving the 2021 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Association for International Agricultural and Extension Education, being recognized with the 2020 Borlaug CAST Communication award, and being named a Fellow of the Association for International Agricultural and Extension Education in 2018.
