Gabriel is a master’s student in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia, pursuing a degree in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Paraná State University (UNIOESTE), Brazil, and completed a Graduate Certificate in Agriculture and Agribusiness through the Brazilian Association of Colleges (UNIBF). His interdisciplinary background combines business, agriculture, applied research, and communication. During his academic journey, Gabriel participated in research projects focused on customer satisfaction, strategic and operational management, and students’ experiences with remote education, developing skills in research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting. He also served as a Teaching Assistant for Cost Management and Research in Administration, supporting student learning and engagement. His professional experiences in retail operations and youth coaching strengthened his communication skills, ability to engage diverse audiences, and experience in building meaningful relationships. Gabriel’s experiences have prepared him to contribute to agricultural communication initiatives that support education, research, and effective communication between science and diverse audiences.
Research Interests
Gabriel’s research interests focus on understanding how agricultural communication strategies influence public perceptions of and engagement with agricultural innovations, sustainability, and scientific information. His interests also include exploring how audience characteristics, consumer trends, digital communication, and message design shape how diverse agricultural audiences interpret information and respond to agricultural science.
Current Projects
Gabriel is currently working on research projects exploring how we most effectively communicate about invasive species. He will be involved in conducting listening sessions with wine grape growers across the U.S. to determine how research teams made up of plant pathologists and entomologists develop science-based best management practices that will mitigate the impacts of the Spotted lanternfly (SLF).
