Biography
Chia-Hao (Jamie) Yu is a doctoral student in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia. He is a practitioner committed to bringing knowledge into agriculture and agribusiness, with a particular interest in connecting academic research with the practical needs of these sectors. Before joining the Lamm Lab, Jamie earned a master’s degree in communication from the Department of Bio-Industry Communication and Development at National Taiwan University. During his master’s studies, he managed MBAtalk, a nonprofit agricultural knowledge platform that invited leading agribusiness professionals in Taiwan to share business insights, innovative ideas, and practical perspectives on agriculture. He also holds a Bachelor of Education in Adult and Continuing Education from National Chung Cheng University. Jamie has worked across academic, industry, and public-sector settings, focusing on translating research findings and scholarly knowledge into practical applications. His experience includes industry research, market analysis, and contributions to government policy reports and white papers. He particularly values opportunities to engage with business owners and industry professionals, as these interactions help him identify meaningful research questions grounded in real-world challenges. Jamie has published several articles in SSCI- and SCIE-indexed journals. His research has benefited greatly from the experiences and insights shared by agribusiness practitioners. By integrating empirical findings with industry knowledge, he seeks to produce research that contributes to academic theory while also offering practical guidance.
Research Interests
Jamie’s research interests include agricultural technology, knowledge diffusion and management, and agribusiness and consumer markets. More specifically, he examines how communication shapes public perceptions of agricultural issues and products, as well as how such communication may influence industry innovation and shifts in consumer markets. He is also interested in the adoption of emerging technologies among farmers and other agricultural practitioners, particularly how they assess the usefulness of new technologies, what challenges they encounter during the adoption process, and why they ultimately choose to adopt or reject an innovation.
Current Projects
Jamie is currently working on research projects exploring public perceptions of controlled environment agriculture (CEA). He is developing and testing how messages developed for specific audiences resonate and encourage public support for scientific advancements in CEA .
