A hearty congratulations to Olivia Erskine who passed her Master’s thesis defense with flying colors March 21st. Her innovative, mixed-methods, research included conducting interviews with garden coordinators working in gardens directly impacting thir local food system and surveying members of the U.S. public engaged in community gardens. She asked them to think about and place importance on climate adaptation and mitigation measures and then contrasted her qualitative and quantitative findings. The research resulted in important implications that inform recommendations for how we discuss changing weather patterns with those striving to grow and feed Americans; specifically those in food deserts. Amazing work Olivia!
