    June 14, 2017

I am very happy to come home, although I did have a wonderful time in Costa Rica. I’m glad to have something other than rice and beans for my meals, although I’ll miss the fresh fruit. During our 20 days we saw about 300 birds, two species of sloth, three species of monkey, lots of…

I am so excited to have the opportunity to spend a month in Costa Rica learning all about the ecosystem, biodiversity, and spotting lots of birds! This is not my first time traveling outside of the country, and I am expecting the culture and climate to be very similar to Belize, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.…

This past week I had my first visit into the field. I got to go with some of the other employees to the mountains. We went to an area of Romania that is close to Moldova and within the Carpathian Mountains. The purpose of the visit was to do some preliminary work to prepare for…

Whenever I spoke to someone about their study abroad experience to Costa Rica, everyone’s first response was “the food is amazing!” then followed with “and the campus was really incredible!” When I first looked into the UGA Avian Biology Maymester program, I assumed our program would remain on the UGA satellite campus and do day-trips…
