Lamm worked side by side with horticulture faculty and extension specialists from across the U.S. to study the human side of soilless substrate adoption as part of the Specialty Crops Research initiative – Grant No. 2020-02629 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Through focus groups with speciality crop growers and interviews with substrate providers from around the world, Lamm and her colleagues established a strong foundation for determining a positive way forward as we strive to grow more with decreasing soil availability and lack of access.
