Biography
Oluwafunmilayo Ajiferuke is a doctoral student in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia.
Prior to this, she was awarded the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship by the European Union (2022-2024) for the International Master of Science in Rural Development (IMRD) program coordinated by Ghent University, Belgium. Also, she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Agricultural Economics from prestigious Nigerian universities. She worked within the agricultural research space, most importantly at one of the Consultative Group of International Agriculture Research (CGIAR), the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) under the African Cassava Agronomy Initiative (ACAI) project. Her professional experience includes doing qualitative and quantitative research, designing research instruments, data collection and analysis, and organizing stakeholders’ engagement meetings.
Research Interests
Oluwafunmilayo’s research interests encompass the pillars of sustainable agriculture and use of agricultural digital tools to further advance agricultural production. She is largely interested in how science communication efforts can influence decision making and improve adoption of innovative agricultural practices.
Current Projects
Oluwafunmilayo is currently involved in examining the current pest issues, integrated pest management strategies, and communication preferences of tree fruit growers in the Eastern United States. She is also exploring consumers’ trust levels of pork and pork products through the Real Pork Trust Consortium and delving into risk perceptions of PFAS with Lamm Lab collaborators.
