  • The Eiffel Tower Lawn

    Sage Young

    June 21, 2023

One of my favorite things to do in Paris was to sit out on the Eiffel tower lawn and just take in all of the stunning scenery. I absolutely loved to realx and watch the sun set over the tower. When the lights turn on and sparkle, it was unreal. So many people socialize and…

While on my study abroad ‘Flowers and Photography’ we got the opportunity to visit three different countries the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. • Culture Shock: it’s real!

    Mary Anna Bentley

    June 3, 2023

As we were beginning to prepare for this 18 day trip I tried to grasp the entirely new culture(s) I’d be experiencing while abroad. Through countless google searches, Pinterest boards and asking around I felt more prepared, but still quite uncertain. Growing up on a cattle farm and immersed in the agricultural community I quickly…

  • Sunrises are here, there and everywhere.

    Mary Anna Bentley

    June 3, 2023

Growing up I always aspired to travel the world. Sitting at my moms feet and listening to stories about her travels around the world was always one of my favorite pastimes and was something that really pushed me to attend the CAES Europe: Flowers and Photography.  Coming into the study abroad I felt many things,…

In this picture, there are Nelore cattle, which is the most used beef cattle in Brazil. These specific cattle are being used in a research project that is testing for feed efficiency based on their food and water intake. Anytime they eat or drink, the tag on their ears alerts the feed/water bunker that they…

    September 13, 2022

My study abroad experience was as an Exchange student at a university where I lived in a large flat with lots of other international students. These people very quickly exposed me to dozens of other cultures and practices. They showed me how they make dishes from their home countries and I learned all about places…

During my exchange there were many times that I would make plans ahead of time with friends and go on hikes or go skiing for the weekend (which were great trips, don’t get me wrong), but I can honestly say that some of my favorite memories from the entire semester are from times that I…

  • Gaining Confidence in a New Culture

    Jeffery Manley

    September 13, 2022

When first arriving to my exchange in Zurich, Switzerland everything was new, and I didn’t know anyone, nor did I have any real knowledge of the city and culture I had just stepped into. My first full day after arriving I remember going grocery shopping and feeling incredibly overwhelmed. Many of the products weren’t very…

    Therese Thompson

    August 23, 2022

A very exciting cultural experience I got to enjoy was the snowman burning in Zurich. This festival is called Sechselauten. In this festival, there is a lot of excitement in the city, food stands, parades, and most significantly a giant snowman. This event was a public holiday in Switzerland, so class was canceled and a…
