While on my study abroad ‘Flowers and Photography’ we got the opportunity to visit three different countries the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. While in each country we had many different chances for additional opportunities to be taken. My professors made sure to encourage us to go out and do many of them when being allowed the opportunity. When staying in Delft, Netherlands we were presented with the opportunity to take a day trip to Leiden, Netherlands. We were going to explore the city which none of us had ever been to before with our professor and see if it would be something worth looking into for next year’s program. I choose to go on this trip along with most of my other friends and some new friends. We were able to go and see the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands which was really interesting. They had so many varieties of plants that many of us had never even seen before. One of the plants we saw was the giant leafed alocasia which has single leaves that are bigger than the size of a full-grown human. They also had a variety of different types of gardens such as the herb garden, the fern garden, the flower garden, the Chinese garden, and so many others. Going on this little day trip was one of my favorite moments from the whole trip, many of us were able to learn new things from the garden. By doing this we were able to go and experience another city and the different sites that it has to offer. It was also different because it allowed for us to use the public transportation as opposed to our buses. This trip also allowed for us to form some stronger and more personal bonds together since we were all being able to explore the new city together.
