  • I’m in China…what’s next!

    Charnae Ross

    June 20, 2013

I have been in China for five weeks and I would say that it has been an experience. Usually when people travel to a different country they experience what you would call a culture shock…in my opinion I have not experienced that. Yes, there are many things here that are different than what I am used…

I decided to spend my spring semester in Beauvais, France during the fall semester.  I never really stopped to think about what it would be like to be gone for three months while everyone at home carried on with their lives.  The people you talk to before always say “Studying abroad will change your life,’…

Typically the term “home-sick” refers to missing a place you’ve resided for a long period of time.  However, the term home-sick perfectly describes how I feel about Cortona.  I’ve never missed a place like I miss Italy.  Even more than that,  I miss the 70 people that I shared a dorm with.  Luckily, we’ve all…

It’s been a week since I’ve been back and I have to say I’m in a little bit of a depression. Don’t get me wrong, it is nice to be back with ice and public bathrooms but I do miss walking past an architectural masterpiece every five minutes. I also already miss everyone in the…

So I am now back in the United States after spending three weeks in Costa Rica on the Avian Biology study abroad there. Ever since I have gotten back I have been extraordinarily tired from my journey. Despite this I have travelled back to Athens to continue taking more classes. The transition back is certainly…

Home sweet home. After 21 days in Costa Rica, I’m back in Georgia. Looking back on the trip, it flew by; I can’t believe it’s already over! The highlight of the trip for me was being able to see so much of the country in such a short amount of time. We stayed at 7…

    June 10, 2013

This year’s nesting season in St. Kitts  is the slowest it has ever been in 11 years, which means I haven’t seen many nesting Leatherbacks. So, I finally got the opportunity to flipper tag my first sea turtle last week. It was much easier than I imagined- two reps of betadine and alcohol, a quick…

It has been a couple of days since I have gotten back from Costa Rica. I miss everywhere we went, but it is still nothing like home. The trip opened my eyes to a lot that I would not have been able to see if I had stayed in our country. The standard of living…
