    July 14, 2016

There’s not a better way to end a study abroad than spending the last week in the Galapagos. The entire trip was an absolute blast and I already miss it. When I got back, most people were just jealous that I went to the Galapagos. This was my last class in college so I won’t…

  • Why did I choose Ecuador and the Galapagos?

    Alan Bosworth

    July 14, 2016

Part bias, part really wanted to go to the Galapagos. There is a saying that everyone needs to go on a study abroad at least once. I had no plans on going on one until my entomology adviser and professor brought up this one that she was leading. Naturally, I had to say yes. I…

    July 11, 2016

They say you must lose yourself before finding yourself. I have also always heard lean into the discomfort.  It has been over a month since I have returned from France, and I must say I believe both of these statements are completely accurate. In going to France, I had no idea what to expect. I…

“In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir In one of my courses this semester, we spent a lecture talking about the restorative qualities that the natural environment provides humans. We looked at case after case showing that spending time in nature reduces stress, reduces negative emotions, increases…

    July 1, 2016

I packed/unpacked/repacked my suitcase probably 20 times in the week before my flights. My goal was to pack light and not need to check any bags on the plane. UGA Costa Rica Avian Biology maymester has a packing list, I used a couple of hiking/backpacking bloggers lists, and asked friends that had traveled to central…

    Kathryn Taylor

    June 30, 2016

You never know what to expect on a study abroad trip. I was surprised at how quickly I made friends and how we’ve stayed in touch even weeks after the trip. When you’re with 19 students for three weeks straight, you truly get to know them. I figured that I would make friends while I…

  • Can I go back to Costa Rica now?

    Kathryn Taylor

    June 30, 2016

Now that I have finally adjusted back to being in the states, I can properly reflect on the time that I spent in Costa Rica. What a time it was. I made some amazing memories with some great people and learned so much more about Costa Rican culture and the birds that live there. Coming…

So far, this experience has been one that I will never forget. In addition to honing my traveling skills (learning tidbits of Italian, getting hopelessly lost in Rome, taking walking tours through London, navigating the complicated Paris streets), I have also used the garden knowledge I have acquired to begin thinking about my own future…

    June 30, 2016

La Selva is an adventure. It is also the place that I dubbed Home with Bigger Mosquitos because it is just as muggy as South Georgia, and I was actually great fun for the bug suit my father insisted that I bring that I insisted I wouldn’t wear. ( I was wrong)We have a nice…
