    Jessica Chambers

    July 17, 2019

Costa Rica is known for its breath taking landscape, with beautiful mountains and streams. We hiked many, many miles on this trip to witness these beautiful landscapes. There was one hike, that really tested all of us though, especially myself. This hike was a 3-4 mile hike uphill to Karen Mogensen Reserve. This is called…

  • Comida, Comida, y mas Comida!

    Jessica Chambers

    July 17, 2019

Costa Rica was absolutely breathtaking, from the hikes to the national parks, from the waterfalls to the rivers, and from one side to the other. However, one aspect of my trip that was above the rest was the food! It was so good! Our first day there, was a morning buffet at a hotel we…

  • A taste of Spain

    Samantha Ellis

    July 17, 2019

If you’re anything like me and love good food, by all means, please take the trip to Spain for the Food Production and the Environment. The Mediterranean diet is known for being the healthiest diet in the world and with food being as good as it is in Spain, I can see why. The first…

  • Spain, I love you

    Samantha Ellis

    July 17, 2019

Growing up, my next door neighbors, and parents best friends were from Spain. They owned a small Spanish import company where they imported different cheeses, cured meats, wine, and olive oil, and always talked about how amazing Spain was. I grew up surrounded by the culture, eating different Spanish dishes, eating dinner way later than…

  • Making a Trip Journal

    Sara Brackin

    July 8, 2019

For this study abroad it is very important that you keep up with your journals throughout the trip. Journals are not only a requirement for the course, but they also will help you reflect on your trip later in life. You would be surprised about how many experiences you can forget in even a short…

  • Packing Light

    Sara Brackin

    July 8, 2019

When packing to go abroad, you should try to pack as light as possible. Of course, pack things that are essential to you every day, but you should try to leave out things that you may only use once or twice the entire trip. For first time travelers, like I was, it is difficult to…

  • Making New Friends

    Sara Brackin

    July 8, 2019

A piece of advice that I would give to those who do this study abroad in the future is to try to really get to know the other people attending. It is a great opportunity to make new life long friends and memories that you all will never forget. Since I am a horticulture major…

  • Too Many Beautiful Birds

    Sarah Carlisle

    July 8, 2019

These were three of my favorite birds we got to see on the trip, as well as three of my favorite pictures taken. The first picture is of a golden hooded tanager. They have twelve different colored feathers. It’s not necessarily a rare bird but it is definitely beautiful. The second picture is of an…

  • Our day at Solimar

    Sarah Carlisle

    July 8, 2019

This picture was taken after a long day of exploring Solimar and hiking through the forest to find the spectacled owl nest. Solimar is one of the largest cattle ranches in Costa Rica. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many cattle in one place. The farm is made up of mostly Brahman cattle and…

  • Arts and Sculptures and Gardens, oh my!

    Kaitlyn Chambers

    July 8, 2019

I am so thankful to have chosen a program that allowed me to see many wonders of the world. “Arts and Gardens: The Grand Tour” took me through 10 cities over 6 countries in 20 days. Though the travel was strenuous, it was so worth it! We began our journey by exploring the ruins of…
