  • Teaching in Scotland!

    Georgia Orman

    July 1, 2022

As part of our study abroad in Scotland, we spent the half of the trip teaching agriculture to students in a rural, primary school. Being a first year student, I am still considering a few career paths, one of which being education. So, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to teach in any form,…

  • International adventures of a Georgia girl and her 2-ton backpack 🙂

    Georgia Orman

    July 1, 2022

After a long night of packing and repacking all of my possessions for 2 weeks into a (much too small) backpack, the day was finally upon us; Friday, June 3rd, 2022 was the day we were boarding a 8 ½ hour flight to the United Kingdom! Being a student who has lived internationally before, in…

  • From Bean to Bar and City to City

    Lucy Gibson

    July 1, 2022

Traveling to Costa Rica as a study abroad trip was the best decision I made all summer. Our group of 13 students dove right into the rich culture of Central America where we experienced new food, new cultural norms, and a new language. I had many new thoughts and takeaways from this trip, especially after…

  • My Favorite Costa Rican Excursion

    Lucy Gibson

    July 1, 2022

My favorite part of my two-week trip to Costa Rica, besides the zip-lining, was the first night’s stay at La Carolina Lodge and our trip to Finca El Portal. La Carolina Lodge is a family-owned lodge centered around sustainable living. As guests here, we had opportunities to participate in farm life, relax in the wood-fired…

  • Tobacco Production in Cuba

    Bryan Ogork

    July 1, 2022

With current movements and urbanization around the world, many farmers are facing issues where they have no one to take over their farms which means that farmers get old and cannot work the land anymore, forcing them to sell. During this trip we got the opportunity to speak with Usmani, a tobacco farmer who expressed…

    Bryan Ogork

    July 1, 2022

To understand Cuba, you need to get a better feel of its demographic and general geography. Cuba is a long and narrow island located at the intersection of the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Caribbean Sea. Spanning about 43,000 square miles, the island contains vast areas of farmland, mountainous and another highland…

  • Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Greece

    Sara Massey

    July 1, 2022

We had the opportunity to learn about Tourism and Cultural Heritage management with Dr. Indounas. This lecture was personally my favorite from the whole course because it was very question and answer heavy which helped me learn more. First we started off with the basics, what is management? Management does not have one single definition…

    Sara Massey

    July 1, 2022

We visited the University of Economics where we heard from several professors. One specifically that stood out to me was the lecture we heard about Nudges. This was taught by Niki Stiriou, the Executive Search and Design Consultant at ReBorn. She had an interesting lecture and talked to us about the use of Nudges in…

    Sara Massey

    July 1, 2022

Today we had the amazing opportunity to visit the National Bank of Greece. We learned so much information about the history of the library, the Greek Financial Crisis, how Covid-19 has affected the economy, and so much more. The history of the bank library was exceptionally interesting because it started its operation on May 14,…

  • How to pack as an over-packer

    Madison Ristroph

    July 1, 2022

If you are anything like me when packing for a trip then you like to have options… shoes, shirts, dresses, accessories the absolute works! But when I was accepted to Scotland: Youth Engagement in Agriculture I found out I would have to carry all of my clothes in a backpack and my mind instantly went…
