This past May I studied abroad with thirteen other students for sixteen days. Throughout this trip  we were able to tour around multiple different cities in Scotland, as well as some notable sites in London, England. While we were in Scotland we visited Dumfries, Glasgow, Isle of Skye, Inverness, and Edinburgh. It felt like every day we packed up and moved to a different city, but this allowed us to learn so much about the culture of Scottish agriculture. We were also able to teach lesson plans we created prior to the trip at schools in Dumfries, Scotland. As a student pursuing an Agricultural Education with a minor in Animal Science, this study abroad experience was like a dream come true. The best part of traveling from stop to stop was definitely looking out the window at the beautiful scenery. While driving through the countryside of Scotland, all you can see for miles are the rolling hills and the sheep. Aside from teaching, one of my favorite memories of the trip would have to be the hike we took up Gray Mares Tail. The hike was strenuous, but the view was so rewarding and I feel like it really bonded together our group as a whole and set the tone for the rest of the trip. During the hike up we were able to see the sheep we had been passing by up close, and when we reached the top there was this gorgeous lake that none of us were expecting. Prior to the trip I was extremely anxious about every aspect of this experience . If I could give one piece of advice to anyone considering going on a study-abroad trip, it would be to push the boundaries of your comfort zone. Nothing could have been more rewarding than the memories made on this trip, and the lessons we learned through it together.
