I am on the groome shuttle back to Athens, and though I’m happy to be home, I wish I could have stayed a bit longer. I’m amazed at how much we got to see in such a short time. I learned so much about not just agriculture, but the history and culture of Uruguay. On the last couple of days, we visited a rice mill and a winery. As an animal science major, I don’t know much about this type of production and it was very interesting to see the management that went into each. We also got to explore Punta de Este, which is a beautiful beach city. I am sad to leave mostly because our time seemed to go so fast. I’m so grateful to all the farmers and producers who took the time to show us their business. Everyone was so kind to us and were just happy that we were there. Mostly, I’m thankful to our guide Bruno, who went above and beyond for us on multiple occasions. Overall, I gained a lot from this experience and feel like I am a more well rounded student and person because of it. I absolutely want to go back one day!
