Our 2 day excursion to Las Terras, Cuba was an amazing experience! About 6 hours away from the capital Havana, the scenic route consisted of endless green and king palm trees in the mountains. As we made our way through the town we encountered different aspects of the community. From touristic appeals like ziplining, artisan shops, and clinics the community prospered. The most intriguing part was the medicinal practices of the cigar. Being a country known for Cuban cigars, I only recognized the use of tobacco as recreational, instead of medical. The doctor explained the effects of the cigar heat as a type of therapy. As you can see from the photo, the cigar was brought close to the skin and said to have healing properties. The leaves that make the cigar are different from recreational cigars. The heat did feel nice on my neck!
