I have to admit, I’m a little sad writing this post. This was the last trip I was able to take during my exchange, and it was the last time I will see many of these friends for a very long time.

But first, I’ll tell you how wonderful the trip itself actually was! Since international travel from Switzerland was shut down, my friends and I decided to take a trip inside the country. The weather was going to be beautiful, so we chose to visit the picturesque towns of Interlacken and Grindlwald, which are very close to each other. We took a train from Zürich to Interlacken, which was a beautiful ride through the Swiss countryside, with views of the mountains, valleys, and lakes the entire way. When we arrived in Interlacken, we walked along the river that links the two large lakes on either side of the city. We then arrived on the shore, and were able to enjoy the view, and take a few photos (see below). After enjoying the lake, we decided to get an even better view of the area and went paragliding! It was truly a wonderful experience, and a great way to take advantage of the nice weather.

Our group then took a short train ride into the mountains, to the small town of Grindlewald. This city is the base of most of the skiing in the area during the winter, but in the Spring it is a beautiful place to enjoy the amazing views of the mountains and the surrounding area. We were even able to do some shopping and had dinner in a classic Swiss restaurant!

Unfortunately, the trip felt bittersweet most of the time. It was the last hurrah for many of my friends on the trip, as they were leaving to go back to the US later that week. However, I am so glad I was able to spend one last trip with them before they departed, and we even made plans to see each other when we’re all back in the States this Summer!

Well, I’m not sure how many more posts I’ll be writing, with Switzerland on lock-down for the foreseeable future, but I have to say I truly enjoyed the first part of my exchange. And who knows, maybe I’ll be able to share my experience of being in quarantine in a foreign country!

Tschüss! (Bye!)
