Becoming the first person in my family to attend college was an incredible accomplishment for me in 2015. Amongst the stress of learning about credit hours and dining plans, I never considered the possibility of studying abroad. This May, I conquered another “first” and became the first person in my family to travel abroad! This came with many challenges. I had to educate myself about different power outlets and currencies. I obsessively googled things like “what to wear in Europe” and “how to be safe abroad”. Needless to say, the experience pulled me way out of the comfort zones of myself and my family. I am so thankful for this discomfort. I have learned that I am capable of just about anything I put my mind to.
