I have always known what I wanted to do with my life. I’ve had the same professional goals since I was a little girl. I am a planner. I like to have things very organized, and I don’t like to stray from the plan. Some of that changed while I was in Greece. I know it sounds cheesy to say that going to Europe changed my life, but it truly did. I realized that it is okay to deviate from the plan or to make additions to the plan. Everything isn’t and shouldn’t be all planned out. After studying in Greece for a Maymester, I realized that traveling is something I want to experience more. I never thought that traveling the world would be something I could do until UGA gave me the opportunity. Now I am considering ways that I could incorporate traveling into my future career. I still have the same goal that I’ve always had, but I am adding on some extra ones. I also never thought about taking a year off to travel, but that seems like a likely option for me now that I’ve gotten a taste of what it’s like to travel. Overall, this trip taught me that it’s okay not to be totally prepared all of the time. And it’s also okay to change your mind. It is important to experience new countries and cultures, and UGA has incredible opportunities for students looking to do that. Who knows? You may even find that traveling is what you want to do with your life.
