When I got off the plane in Atlanta, it still hadn’t quite hit me that my time studying in Uruguay had come to an end. Although only a week, this program had an impact that will stay with me forever, and I will always look back upon it with the best memories.

The first week of classes after spring break went like any other week of classes, but I felt like I had changed as a person. I was working on homework with a new passion for what I was learning, and I was able to apply some of my experiences from Uruguay to my classwork. Getting to go on this trip has opened my eyes to the different things that I can do with my animal science, and I’m hopeful that I will be able to return to Uruguay in the future to pursue more lessons in agriculture.

Talking to my friends and family about this trip has been so great: getting to relive the memories, telling all the funny stories, and teaching them about the differences and similarities between Uruguay and Georgia.  My family is very proud of me for going on this trip, and they’re so glad that I was able to enjoy my time abroad will still learning things I’m passionate about. My little sister seems the most excited about my trip, and I hope she too will get the chance to study abroad when she goes to college.

Returning to Athens has been great, but I already miss being in Uruguay. I didn’t know how much this trip would truly affect my life, but it’s definitely been for the best. My time abroad was one of the best things I’ve ever done, and I’m hoping to study abroad again before I graduate. Even if I don’t get the chance to return to Uruguay, it will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will always be grateful for getting to have this once in a lifetime opportunity.
