As the new school year begins, I continue to reminisce about the amazing two weeks I spent and Greece and how I wish I could be going back there. Don’t get me wrong, Athens, Georgia is amazing! But, I would give just about anything in order to study a full semester in Thessaloniki. I would love to immerse myself fully into their culture and explore more of the countryside. The Santorini sunset on the day cruise we took will forever be engrained in my brain. There is beauty and then there is Greek beauty. It is unmatched.

I have already started noticing how much Greece has influenced so much in our society. From architecture to food to even the words we speak, Greece has had some sort of input to these things we see and use very day. I knew that UGA had a lot of Greek influence in their architecture but I didn’t realize just how much! There are so many columns all over campus that I wouldn’t even know where to begin if I wanted to count them all! I am so glad that I was able to experience the true Mediterranean dining experience and almost wish I could eat like that all the time. I have already forced my best friend to eat at a Greek restaurant and I can’t wait to share it with more people.

I’m very excited to catch up with all of my friends once school begins and tell them about the amazing experience I had in Greece. So many of them have already told me how jealous they were of me when I was there. I hope to educate them about everything I was able to learn and experience and encourage them to go on this amazing trip next year! I honestly cannot thank everyone who supported me enough because it was a trip of a lifetime!
