Because of finals, I haven’t had a chance to get excited about this trip until today. I can’t wait to be in France! I studied French in high school and fell in love with the language and culture, so I am so eager to finally experience it firsthand.
My parents live in North Carolina, so I flew out of Charlotte to a connecting flight in Newark, New Jersey where I am currently waiting for my flight to Paris. And when we were landing here I got to see the New York skyline! I was nervous about having two connecting flights, because I’ve always flown with my parents, so I’ve never had to get through the airport and everything else by myself before. But thankfully it hasn’t been a problem so far. I’ve just asked people for help when I needed it, and my layovers have been long which has allowed me plenty of time to figure out where I need to go.
I am also a little bit worried about the jet lag and adapting to the time change. I’m glad we are getting in over the weekend so I have time to get used to it before classes start. I’m so excited to see an international perspective of the topics I have already been studying at UGA, and the literature Dr. Azain sent us to read is very interesting (good for passing the time on my layovers and long flight coming up!).
Despite my worries, I can’t wait to be there and have the experience of a lifetime.
Au revoir, America!
