The trip home was an adventure in and of itself.  The plane that was supposed to take us back to Atlanta from Quito, the capital of Ecuador, had to leave Atlanta first.  Unfortunately, there were terrible storms in Atlanta, which caused it to be delayed.  Consequently, this caused our flight to be delayed leaving Quito. So, we went ahead to the airport around 10, when our plane was originally scheduled to take off at 11:50 and made it to the terminal in the hopes that the delay wouldn’t be too long.  But we slept in the airport terminal for about 3 hours.  Because there was such an immense delay, Delta ended up giving us food vouchers to use within the airport.  I loved that so much because I got a free Johnny Rockets milkshake at 2 in the morning!  It was about 3 o’clock in the morning, when we finally got the announcement that we were able to board the plane to go home.  Everyone was over joyed! We made it home finally about 5 hours late, and while everyone was extremely exhausted, we were all very thankful to be back home with our families.
