My absolute favorite moment of the trip was one night spent with a group of my new friends watching the sun set from the top of a hill in Edinburgh, Scotland. We first discovered this hidden place when our professors, Dr. Smalley and Dr. van Iersel, were giving us a tour of Edinburgh on the first night we arrived in the city. The hill is home to several monuments but by far the best part about it is the view of the city on one side and an amazing view of the ocean on the other. It was incredible to sit there with all the new friends I had made during the trip and watch the sun set from such an incredible vantage point. The view of the sun set from there was amazing and unlike anything I had ever seen in the United States. We just sat there and reminisced about all the adventures we had during the trip, sad that it was close to coming to an end. It was nice to take a break from all the hectic traveling we had done so far to spend a couple of hours appreciating the beauty of nature around us. While this place was not on our itinerary, it was one of the most memorable stops of the trip.
