There have been so many instances where I, by myself and with a team, have had so many great ideas and amazing plans. However, that was all they were, ideas and plans. It felt so rewarding to plan something as incredible as this and actually follow through! What we accomplished may not have been as big and grand as it was on paper, but the fact of the matter is that we accomplished what we set out to do!
The kids at Troqueer had some unrealistic ideas for the garden, but we had to remind ourselves we were just as creative at that age. It is so important to remember that kids’ imaginations have no limits, and they are whom you should turn to if you’re ever in a creative slump.
This journey has taught me how important it is to listen to others, to smile and say “Hi-ya” to strangers, and to always keep an open mind. There will be times you have to look at situations through other people’s perspectives, but to see a different life altogether is a unique experience not everyone is willing to take.
