After participating in some game-watching parties throughout the country, I was surprised to find out there was no local chapter for me now. When I contacted the Alumni Association about it, they explained that there used to be a chapter that had gone dormant and ultimately disbanded. Through collaboration with the Alumni Association, we planned an initial event in Tifton to gauge interest for chapter leaders. We had a good turnout and locked down four chapter leaders, including myself as President. In September 2023, we threw our first official event as the new South Georgia Chapter of the UGA Alumni Association. The event was a game-watching party for the UGA vs. Ball State football game. Currently, we are in the process of planning more events in the future. Once we have a solid chapter group, we hope to pick a philanthropic cause we can all rally behind.

“The project goal is to get the local chapter back off the ground with some initial events and ultimately gain chapter members.”
