Kevin E. Mis Solval, Ph.D.

As a tenured Associate Professor and founder, I specialize in bridging scientific research and real-world impact through food innovation, biotechnology, and product commercialization. With over $2.6 million in competitive research funding from USDA, GA Sea Grant, and other key federal and state agencies, my work empowers emerging food industries across the U.S. I’ve guided over 55 companies in launching new food products, from concept to commercialization, and hold a patent-pending technology for jellyfish collagen. My research spans microencapsulated bioactives, SMART food processing technologies, and novel blue protein applications. Equally important to my mission is training the next generation of food scientists and innovators. I have mentored graduate students, emerging researchers, and early-stage entrepreneurs to develop impactful solutions that address global food challenges. Through hands-on research, industry collaboration, and real-world product development, I aim to equip future leaders with the skills and vision to shape the future of food. I’m passionate about building sustainable, science-driven food systems and fostering blue economy initiatives that drive rural innovation and economic growth.
