PMIL partner Meds & Food for Kids is taking on an interesting project with the University of Haiti to plant model gardens that incorporate poultry into production. Sponsored by EU-affiliated Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine of the University of Haiti (FAMV-UEH) is establishing five community gardens that integrate food crops and poultry into a sustainable model.

Three of the Diversified Home Gardens (jaden lakou) will be managed by MFK and will be located in Ouanaminthe commune in the Northeast Department where MFK’s farmer training groups are located. The project is meant to provide smallholder farmers in rural communities with access to training and information on nutrition, best agricultural practices, and ways to ramp up egg and crop production.
