***Update from Dr. Mark Czarnota

The Georgia Department of Agriculture issued a stop sale order on Midash Forte Insecticide on June 18, 2024. Batch TX433 was contaminated with varying low amounts of triclopyr and 2,4-D. If you have bought this insecticide any time in the past year prior to the stop sale date, please check if it was from this batch. The batch number can be found on the box the jug came in. If you have, contact Sharda USA, LLC. to determine if it was part of the contaminated lot. The representative handling the investigation is Tyler Carson: 229-561-9096 or TylerCarson@shardaintl.com. He will be able to answer any questions you have.

In the case you did use the contaminated product, you can contact the Georgia Department of Agriculture Pesticide Incident Reporting contact, Kelly Miranda, at 229-520-2133 or kelly.miranda@agr.georgia.gov. She will help test for any residue from the contaminants.

***UPDATE: Triclopyr and 2,4-D are both group 4 (growth regulator) selective broadleaf herbicides that can damage citrus trees. These herbicides can accumulate in the plant vascular system, so the more the plants are exposed to these herbicides, the higher the possibility of visual damage occurring. However, citrus is very tolerant to growth regulator herbicides and would require several applications of these herbicides at low rates to cause damage.
