Graduate assistantships

Ph.D. assistantship

Currently, we are looking for Ph.D. assistantship who shares similar research interests and passion to join our team. This position will provide financial support through graduate research assistantships (https://osfa.uga.edu/costs/). Dissertation research may focus on exploring biochar effects on ornamental plant physio-biochemical responses to biotic and abiotic stress (incorporated with biocontrol agents). The successful candidate will also have opportunities to conduct other collaborative researches with industry/academic partners, be involved in extension programs, and attend regional and national conferences. 

M.S. assistantship

Currently, we are looking for M.S. assistantship who shares similar research interests and passion to join our team. This position will provide financial support through graduate research assistantships (https://osfa.uga.edu/costs/). Thesis research may focus on irrigation and nutrients impacts on plant root-microorganism interactions as well as ornamental plant growth and quality. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to conduct other collaborative researches with industry/academic partners, be involved in extension programs, and attend regional and national conferences. 

Ideally the position (both Ph.D. and M.S.) will begin Fall 2023, however, the position will remain open until a viable applicant pool is determined. Please indicate in your cover letter why you are interested in this opportunity and describe any relevant experiences. Applicants must have a B.S. or M.S. degree in horticulture, plant pathology, agronomy, entomology or a related field to apply M.S. or Ph.D. program and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. All applicants must qualify for admission to the UGA graduate school and be admitted through the Department of Horticulture.
