Welcome to the UGA Small Fruit Program!

Led by Dr. Zilfina Rubio Ames, the goal of the small fruit program is to increase the efficiency of the production system by improving production management practices. Our research projects address industry issues and result in information and solutions that can be applied by the berry industry in Georgia. The results of our research are delivered to farmers using the county delivery system.
👏🏻A huge congratulations to our graduate student, Natalia Espinoza!
She was recently selected to participate in the 2025 Farm Foundation Cultivators program in Spokane, Washington. This was an incredible opportunity for her to network with and learn from agricultural leaders across the country. 👏🏻

🌱 Yesterday, our team attended the Photosynthesis Workshop at the University of Georgia, led by the Li-COR team.
We spent the day diving into plant physiology, learning to optimize gas exchange measurements, and getting hands-on experience with the LI-6800 systems.
A big thank you to the organizers and LI-COR’s support team for the valuable insights and technical guidance! 🌿💡

Stay tuned for our 2025 results!

🌱Today, we began root scanning to assess 2024 hurricane damage on blueberry plants.
🌱This will helps us monitor plant health and root growth, and validating recovery using humic acid applications.
📢Stay tuned for updates on our findings
