
Alejandra Jimenez Madrid
Alejandra Jimenez Madrid is the Manager of the Plant Molecular Diagnostics Lab (MDL). She completed her MS in Plant Pathology at Louisiana State University in 2017, and her PhD in Plant Pathology at the Ohio State University in 2021. She worked as a postdoctoral research associate at Mississippi State University, Delta Research and Extension Center, prior to accept the role as the Manager of the MDL at the University of Georgia. In her current role, she provides advanced testing for plant pathogens via molecular and serological methods and provides fungicide resistance testing.

Gabriel Darío Muñoz
Gabriel Darío Muñoz is originally from Ecuador. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Science and Production from the University of Zamorano in Honduras in 2018, where he worked on an integrated management plan for weeds on agricultural and livestock lots. He completed a Master of Science in Plant Pathology from Louisiana State University in May 2023, where his research focused on genetic characterization of resistance to Frogeye Leaf Spot of soybean. He joined the Plant Molecular Diagnostic Lab in the summer of 2023 at the University of Georgia, Tifton Campus working as a Research Professional under the supervision of Dr. Alejandra Jimenez Madrid.

Emily Holliman
Emily Holliman is a graduate research assistant from Pensacola, FL. She graduated from WVU with a Bachelor of Agriculture in Horticulture with a minor in Pest Management. At WVU she assisted in research concerning the use of the CHV-1 mycovirus as a control for Cryphonectria parasitica (causal agent of chestnut blight) as well as various comparative and pathogenicity assays between C. parasitica andthe closely related C. radicalis. Currently her project, under the supervision of Dr. Alejandra Jimenez Madrid and Dr. Jonathon Oliver, focuses on Citrus Greening (HLB) in Georgia.

Allan Dondi Umana
Allan Dondi Umana is originally from Costa Rica. In 2020 he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy at UNAG, Honduras. He has worked in the production and post-harvest of strawberries. He is currently working on an internship, focused on cotton disease, at the University of Georgia under the supervision of Dr. Alejandra Jimenez Madrid.
