The U.S. State Department is looking to hire an agricultural advisor to work in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, Trade Policy and Programs, Office of Agricultural Policy. The advisor will help to coordinate the State Department’s efforts to support the use of agricultural biotechnology to address food security, to keep markets open to U.S. agricultural exports, and to ensure international regulatory regimes help foster the adoption of new technologies.

The employee will work with a senior specialist to prepare for U.S. participation in the Cartagena Protocol for Biosafety under the Convention for Biological Diversity, as well as collaborate with senior specialists to develop policies related to agricultural trade and food security.
An undergraduate or higher level degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines is required, along with at least one year of specialized experience. U.S. citizenship is required.
