The deadline is approaching to nominate someone for a 2017 APRES Award.
Winners will be announced during the 2017 Annual Meeting held July 11-13 at the Hotel Albuquerque in Albuquerque, NM.
Eligibility rules and nominating guidelines can be found on the APRES website www.apresinc.com under the Member tab.
Nominations with supporting documentation should be sent to the Chairman of the Award.
Here’s a look at some of the awards:
Coyt T. Wilson Distinguished Service Award

The award recognizes an individual who best emulates Dr. Coyt T. Wilson who contributed freely of his time and service to APRES during its formative years. Active members with five years of membership and service to APRES in the area(s) of committee appointments, officer duties, editorial boards, or special assignments are eligible. Award: $1,000 cash and recognition plaque
APRES Fellow Award

Fellows are active members of the Society who have been nominated to receive the honor of fellowship by other active members, recommended by the Fellows Committee, and elected by the APRES Board of Directors. The nominee should have made outstanding contributions in an area of specialization whether in research, extension or administration and whether in public, commercial or private service activities.
Award: Plaque, Certificate, Recognition of Accomplishments, entered into the Proceedings
Dow AgroSciences Award for Excellence in Research

Dow AgroSciences Award for Excellence in Education

Joe Sugg Graduate Student Competition (Sponsored by North Carolina Peanut Growers Association)
Graduate student are invited to participate in the oral presentation competition. (Requires an abstract; deadline has passed).
Bailey Award
The Bailey Award was established in honor of Wallace K. Bailey, an eminent peanut scientist and recognizes the best paper presented at the previous year’s Annual M
eeting. All session papers presented by APRES members at the Annual Meeting are eligible. Nominations are selected based on the oral paper presentation at the previous year’s Annual Meeting, and final awards are made after critiquing submitted manuscripts.
Award: Bookends awarded to speaker; Additional Authors recognized in the Proceedings and APRES website
APRES Peanut Education for Excellence Program (sponsored by Bayer)
This recognition program is designed to demonstrate how County Extension Agents take Applied Research and Extension programs and provide excellent technology transfer to their peanut producers. Bayer will recognize the contributions of one outstanding County Extension Agent from each of the major peanut producing states
(Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas). Sponsored Agents are required to prepare an abstract and make an oral presentation at the APRES Annual Meeting. Contact your state Extension peanut specialist/agronomist for more information.
Award: A Trip to the APRES Annual Meeting (Agent registration, travel, lodging, and meals)
