Kumar Mallikarjunan, the lead scientist on a study comparing analytical methods for aflatoxin detection, is leaving his job at Virginia Tech for a department head position at the University of Minnesota.
Mallikarjunan, a professor in biological system engineering, will take the reins of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota in January.
He completed one Peanut & Mycotoxin Innovation Lab project, comparing existing analytical methods for ease of use, cost per sample, sensitivity, and repeatability.
Other work on value chains will be managed by Maria Balota at Virginia Tech through the end of the program.
