The faculty of Agriculture at the University of Mauritius will host an International Conference on Agribusiness in collaboration with the AFMA (Africa Farm Management Association) from 20-24 November 2016 under the main theme “Sustainable Agricultural Development: Innovation Systems Approach for Agricultural Transformation in Africa.” The conference will cover:

  • Sustainable Agriculture and organic farming
  • Food Safety, Food Security and Nutrition
  • Agribusiness and Farm Management
  • ICT in Agriculture and Agricultural Innovation Systems
  • Biotechnology and Technology Development
  • Climate change and Climate Smart Agriculture
  • Market Development for increased production and Agricultural trade policies

The deadline for submission of papers has been extended to mid August 2016. The conference is MQA approved and the private sector can apply for HRDC refund of training cost.

One of the conference goals is to foster a vibrant network of farm managers, scientists, policymakers and practitioners in agribusiness and related fields that will serve as a forum for exchange and dissemination of information on the development of African agribusiness. Organizers also hope to improve dialogue among local, regional and international scientists, researchers, academics, service providers, scholars, governments and the private sector across Africa, America and Europe.
