Feed the Future’s Partnering for Innovation program has announced a new partnership with Tecnologia E Consultoria Agro-Pecuaria (TECAP) in Mozambique.

Partnering for Innovation is a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) program that helps the private sector to scale and market agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers through investing in technology commercialization and knowledge exchange.

The program’s goal is to increase the productivity and profitability of smallholder farmers by funding companies to commercialize new agricultural technologies in developing countries. Partnering for Innovation also works with USAID Missions to create and manage public private partnerships that will improve agricultural productivity. Through its online community, the AgTechXChange, the program facilitates connections and knowledge sharing among entrepreneurs, investors, and nonprofit organizations.

With Partnering for Innovation’s support, TECAP is growing its network of one-stop agriculture service centers. TECAP will establish three centers in new locations, expanding farmers’ access to inputs and mechanization.

Through establishing three new farmers houses, TECAP will reach 18,750 farmers with improved inputs and access to mechanization services. By the conclusion of the program, TECAP will have generated at least $2.8 million in sales of agriculture inputs and mechanization services among the three farmers houses.

In addition, TECAP will expand its network of agrodealers, franchisees, and agricultural development agents.Tecnologia E Consoltoria Agro-Pecuaria (TECAP) is scaling its network of one-stop agriculture service centers, called farmers houses, from the one existing location in Maputo to Manica, Nampula, and Tete. TECAP plans to further expand input distribution through a network of 50 agrodealers, 20 franchisees, and 250 agriculture development agents.
