The 48th Annual Meeting of the American Peanut Research and Education Society ended with awards and recognition for outstanding achievement in research and dedication to the industry. Among those recognized were:

  • Tim Brenneman, who received the Coyt T. Wilson Distinguished Service Award. Brenneman is a professor of plant pathology at the University of Georgia and a collaborator on the Peanut & Mycotoxin Value Chain projects in Africa and Haiti.
  • Jack Davis, the Director of Technical Services at JLA International, won the Bailey Award.
  • Kelly Racette of the University of Florida won first place in the Joe Sugg Graduate Student Competition focused on production technology.
  • Abraham Fulmer, a UGA student and PMIL collaborator, won second place in the Joe Sugg Graduate Student Competition focused on production technology.
  • Josh Clevenger of UGA, also a PMIL collaborator, took first place in the Joe Sugg Graduate Student Competition focused on genetics, breeding and pathology areas.
  • Ze Peng of UF won second place in the Joe Sugg Graduate Student Competition focused on genetics, breeding and pathology areas.
  • Timothy Grey of UGA and Tom Stalker of North Carolina State University won the Dow AgroSciences Award for Research & Education.
  • Eric Prostko, a UGA professor and Extension weed specialist was granted a Fellows Award.
  • Out-going APRES president Tom Stalker accepted recognition from Corley Holbrook, who is taking the leadership role for the coming year.
