The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is hiring a senior agricultural officer to work out of the Office of the Assistant Director-General in Agriculture in Rome.

The position has a two-year term.

The senior agricultural officer acts as secretary to the Independent Science and Partnership Council’s Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA), and provides intellectual, technical and administrative support to SPIA in fulfilling its mandate of impact assessment for accountability, learning, and building capacity. The job also involves providing critical review and analysis of CGIAR research plans, highlighting programmatic and technical issues for ISPC’s consideration, and drafting relevant commentaries as appropriate.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in economics, agricultural economics, or a related field, as well as 10 years of relevant experience in policy issues related to agricultural research and technology and/or impact assessment of agricultural interventions in development.
