USAID’s American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) Program Agency for International Development is accepting grant applications for schools, libraries, and hospitals founded or sponsored by U.S. agencies or organizations, but located outside the country.

The grant is not for research, but allows for recipients to buy equipment and some types of infrastructure.

Partnering with U.S. institutions allows groups abroad to benefit from the expertise and experience of U.S. organizations while ensuring projects are locally owned and sustained, according to USAID.

The award ceiling is $2 million, and applications are due by 5 p.m. Eastern on May 2, 2016.
