Welcome to Carpophiline-ID, a taxonomic web resource for the identification of Carpophilinae (Nitidulidae) of eastern North America.
Nitidulidae, commonly known as the “sap beetles,” form one of the most diverse families of Coleoptera, with approximately 4,500 species in 350 genera worldwide (Ślipiński, Leschen, & Lawrence, 2011). The subfamily Carpophilinae includes many economically and ecologically significant species that are very difficult to identify using currently available literature.
Carpophiline-ID (version 01.19.2021) was built to be a user-friendly, interactive, web-based key for the identification of Carpophilinae in eastern North America. All carpophiline taxa currently known to occur in this region (3 genera, 21 spp.) are included.
