The Mentor Me program was established during the 2020-2021 academic year to promote alumni engagement with students in the UGA Department of Food Science & Technology. The objective of the Mentor Me program is to connect undergraduate and graduate students in the department with UGA alumni working in the industry, government bodies, and academia to facilitate mentorship and networking opportunities. Mentors are paired with mentees based on mutual interests and education levels and the pairs engage through monthly one-on-one mentoring sessions conducted over Zoom. The mentoring sessions focus on a variety of topics centered around professional development such as job and internship hunting, how to best prepare oneself for a career in the industry, and specialized training in a field of interest.
