We study diseases of food crops in urban and controlled environments, driven by a commitment to serve growers and communities while advancing plant disease management. Our research is grounded in tailored, integrated strategies that are shaped by need-based assessments and strong collaborations with stakeholders and scientists. The lab focuses on data-driven research and provides extensive outreach materials to support the agricultural community. Our work primarily targets fungal, oomycete, and some bacterial diseases, with applied research concentrating on the etiology, diagnosis, and management of these diseases in urban and controlled environment facilities. Extension is a core pillar of our lab, where we leverage diverse multimedia platforms to educate, elevate, and train stakeholders. Additionally, we have launched a dynamic platform, “Urban Pods: Where Science Meets People,” to further engage and inform the community.
