I’ve had an unusually busy week so it really hasn’t sunk in that I’ll be in South America by lunchtime tomorrow. I’ve been so worried about making sure that I’ve gotten everything packed up, getting all my travel documents together, and class work that I haven’t really thought about how different of a culture it really could be. Being a picky eater as it is, I’m particularly worried about how the food will be! Hopefully I’ll be able to find something I like but just in case, I packed plenty of crackers.

Another concern I have is about the language barrier. Are most people in cities we’re traveling to bilingual? Do they at least know some English? I definitely don’t know enough Spanish to communicate effectively so it should be interesting! I’ve heard that Montevideo is decently bilingual so maybe Treinta y Tres and Punta del Este are as well.

Besides the concerns about the actual country, I know I forgot something. My suitcase actually had room to spare and so did my carry on, which is hard to believe when this is a ten day trip and I’ve filled up both on a four day trip before.

All in all, I’m super excited and I can’t wait to experience all that Uruguay has to offer!

It’s so hard to believe that it’s finally time to go to Uruguay!
