It hasn\u2019t really hit me that I am headed to Uruguay for spring break. Spring break was a distant thought for a long time until now that it\u2019s pretty much here. If you would have asked me a year ago where I would be headed for spring break this year, I would have never thought I would be headed to Uruguay.<\/p>\n<p>Over this past summer, I attended the University of Georgia\u2019s Vet CAMP, and<a href=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/sassyandme.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3227 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/sassyandme-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/sassyandme-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/sassyandme.jpg 768w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/sassyandme-104x138.jpg 104w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a> I felt God pushing me to spontaneously change my major to Animal Science. Beginning in August, I was officially a freshman and an\u00a0AGDawg except I knew nothing about agriculture. I mean who knew there could be so many different breeds of cattle? I have <span style=\"float: none;background-color: transparent;color: #333333;font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman','Bitstream Charter',Times,serif;font-size: 16px;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;font-weight: 400;letter-spacing: normal;line-height: 24px;text-align: left;text-decoration: none;text-indent: 0px\">l<\/span>oved my animal science class that has focused on the domestication of animals impact in the world and the practices that go into food production. Over this first year, I have had so many incredible experiences in my animal science classes from dissecting a pig\u2019s digestive system to playing with newborn puppies when learning about genetics, to notching pig ears, and haltering heifers. I grew up a dog-lover and animal enthusiast -I consider myself a professional animal petter; yet, my classes thus far have only deepened my passion for animals.<\/p>\n<p>I heard about this program at the study abroad fair back in September, and I just kept bringing it up to my parents. I am not sure why but there is something about the word sustainability has always sparked an interest in me. I am very excited to be headed to Uruguay to learn about sustainable agriculture. I think people sometimes forget about the overall impact agriculture plays in communities not only at home but also abroad. If you really take a secon<a href=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/cowupclose.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3231 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/cowupclose-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"123\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/cowupclose-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/cowupclose-78x138.jpg 78w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/cowupclose.jpg 270w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 123px) 100vw, 123px\" \/><\/a>d to think about it, it\u2019s incredible how much agriculture impacts the world. I really would love to use this experience and my overall education for UGA in order to build more sustainable communities around<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3226 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/dogshelter-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/dogshelter-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/dogshelter.jpg 576w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2018\/03\/dogshelter-78x138.jpg 78w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 169px) 100vw, 169px\" \/> the world.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past months, I have been frequently reading about other people\u2019s trips on the blog in order to prepare myself.
