On Friday we visited Mrs. Paula’s winery called Alto de la Bellena. There we toured the winery and tasted some of her grapes and wine. Then we visited the last farm where we toured the farm on the back of a pick up truck. We saw the cattle and the sheep living together in the open land. We watched the sunset on the farm as we drove back to our hotel. At dinner we reminisced on our trip as we thanked our wonderful guides, Bruno and Bruno and our bus driver for all the hard work they put in for us this week.

Saturday we had the chance to shop around and explore Punta del Este. I was able to get the rest of the souvenirs for my family and friends. Around 3 o’clock we headed back to the hotel to get ready to head to the airport. We took our last pictures with Bruno and told everyone goodbye. As we got on the plane I thought about how I would never see Bruno again. Then I remembered that he had sent us an email before the trip and how that might be a good way to stay in touch with him. You never know, he may get an invitation to my wedding.

I joined this trip without having any background in agriculture unlike many of my classmates. However, I was able to learn so much about the world of farming and beef production. I learned so much from visiting the farms and the research that was taking place. If I ever had any questions, my professor and classmates were there to help me. I truly enjoyed my experience in Uruguay. I met so many new friends and created new bonds that will continue when we return back to school. This study abroad experience is one that I will never forget.
